Other things we are planning on doing include replacing the saddle tanks on the Coos Bay and Lavino locomotives, and probably in the late spring or early summer, doing some painting and general fixing up of the Mojave Northern locomotive in La Mesa (our most publicly visible exhibit).

I'm looking for a few more good women and men to join us in our program. Those of you who have worked on steam in the past, know it is hard and dirty work, but extremely rewarding. For those of you who have no. steam experience, come on out and join us anyway. No experience necessary! If you have any interest in steam at all, the best possible way to lean more is to help assemble a locomotive that is in pieces.

You will gain a very intimate knowledge of how everything goes together, and how and why it works. For those who desire a more formal approach to learning about steam, I will be prepared to teach a series of classes on the subject. I'm looking forward to seeing you on January 9 and/or Jan. 10. Need more information? Give me a call at 619-670-7441 or jimbaker@cts.com. Note: I will be unavailable from Dec. 17 until about Jan. 6.
