The Valley Flyer is a full size train ride with passenger coaches pulled by a vintage diesel electric locomotive.
The Valley Flyer departs every 30 minutes (on demand) from the Campo Depot, travels 1/2 mile west over the San Diego & Arizona Railway to the Gaskill Brother's Stone Store. Passengers will be encouraged to disembark for a short 300-foot walk to the Stone Store Museum. The Stone Store features an historic country store downstairs, with displays, maps and artifacts. Upstairs interprets the history of the World War II era Camp Lockett Army base that resided in Campo.
Fares adults $6 children 6-12 $3 children under 6  free Fares include Museum entrance fee
Most visitors will find a 30 minutes tour of the Stone Store Museum is a pleasant and worthwhile experience. Adults will be given a Stone Store Museum ticket included in your train fare (children are free), when you disembark from the train, which you will hand to the docent in the Stone Store Museum.
The train will return in 30 minutes and will then travel one mile east past the Campo Depot, the Section House, the Railway Museum and through the Campo Valley. The views of the valley sometimes include mule deer, coyotes, red-tailed hawks and other indigenous species. The train then travels west to the Railroad Museum, where a short 200-foot walk leads to the Rail Museum's Display Building to visit steam locomotives, a Railway Post Office car, restored Jim Crow car, 1880's handcar, a rare velocipede and other equipment.
The entire Museum yard containing 80 pieces of railway equipment is available for your exploration. The trains will return in 30 minutes to transport you back to your starting point at the Campo Depot. You may also choose to walk back to the Depot, a pleasant 1,000-foot walk.
Your ticket is an all-day pass featuring an unlimited 2 1/2 mile round trip train ride within the Campo Valley, and includes admission to the Railway Museum and the Stone Store Museum. You may also choose to simply ride the train all day or part of the day, as you choose. This is a great family opportunity to combine multiple train rides and multiple museums.
Tickets are available at the Campo Depot and reservations are not required. Trains are scheduled to leave at 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:01 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. as demand warrants.
All this for $6 per adult (13 and over), $3 for children (6-12). Children five and under ride free! Fares include admission to the Museum.
Please note: The 3:30 p.m. departure is the last for the day, basically intended to pick up visitors from the Stone Store and PSRM's Display Building, you are invited to ride this time, and even visit one of the museums, however there will be no train to return you to the Campo Depot, but both museums are within walking distance for most people.
