Please note that reservations are requred for travel on the Garcia Adventure. The Department of Homeland Security requires passenger manifests to be submitted in advance for all trips to/from Mexico. The Museum will not be able to accommodate ticket-less walk-up passengers on the morning of a trip to Mexico. Thanks for your understanding.

* * * The Museum is offering a rare mileage excursion to Mexico on Saturday, February 28 2009. This excursion will leave from and return to the Museum's historic Depot in Campo, California.First we will journey to Tecate, then travel an additional 33-miles to the eastern end of Tijuana. This portion of the trip features the famous Redondo Loop, Rodriguez Dam, the Tijuana River Canyon, two tunnels and the large steel trestle over the river to Garcia.
The locomotive will switch ends at Garcia for the return trip to Campo. There will be no scheduled stops except at the Garcia run-around.
Lunch will be provided, or you may bring your own.
February 28 2009 Schedule: Depart Campo CA at 8:30 A.M. Return to Campo CA at 5:00 P.M. Please access the Museum's on-line reservation system to place your reservations and to provide U.S. Customs information.
The train departs on time, so please arrive well in advance of the scheduled departure (drive time is approximately 80-minutes from downtown San Diego). There is plenty of free parking at the depot. Boarding begins 30-minutes before the scheduled departure.
For that really special trip, the Museum's Santa Fe #1509 observation car or the private car Robert Peary is available for private charter for $1,000 plus a minimum of 20 full-fare adult tickets for the Robert Peary or 35 for the #1509. Cab Rides are not available on this special excursion.For your comfort, smoking and consumption of alcoholic
beverages on the Museum grounds and trains are prohibited.Customs Information
Each passenger is required to clear US Customs upon their return to Campo. Customs requires that certain information pertaining to each returning passenger be provided before their tickets are issued. The required information will be requested during the on-line ordering process. U.S. citizens may use a drivers license or passport for identification. Be sure to list each person's full name exactly as it appears on their identification.Ticket Return PolicyOnce again, the Museum's agreement with U.S. Customs requires that tickets NOT be issued until the Customs information is filed with DHS. Therefore, failure to provide this information for each person traveling in your party will prevent us from issuing a ticket for that person. Sorry, no exceptions are permitted.
Please remember that the Customs information is required by the U.S. Government. The Museum is responsible for collecting this data but will not retain it after the scheduled trip date.

Land Crossing Passport Requirement Postponed
The Department of Homeland Security has announced that the requrement for returning US citizens over land crossings has been postponed until June 1, 2009. The requirment to provide proof of citizenship remains in effect.
Beginning January 31, 2008, U.S. and Canadian citizens 19 years and older who enter the U.S. at land and sea ports of entry from within the Western Hemisphere will need to present government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license as proof of identity, along with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate or naturalization certificate, or a passport. Children age 18 and under will be able to enter with proof of citizenship. Verbal claims of citizenship and identity alone will not be sufficient to establish identity and citizenship for entry into the United States.
Note: Children age 18 and under will need to present a birth certificate, naturalization certificate or a passport to enter the U.S.
In summary, passengers 19-years of age and over will need to provide either of the following:
- A U.S. Passport (or comparable document)
- Government issued photo ID (drivers license) AND proof of citizenship (birth certificate)

All ticket purchases are final. However, we will be happy to substitute another party(s) in your place.Placing ReservationsWe are required to provide US Customs with a manifest prior to any Mexican trip, therefore any replacement guest info mus t be provided to the reservations manager at least 24 hours in advance of the trip.

The Museum has provided an on-line reservation system for your use.
On-line Purchase: Garcia AdventureYou will be taken to the Museum's Reservation and Payment Site hosted by Dynamic Ticket Solutions. Your U.S. Customs traveler information will be collected at that time.Please note: This charge will be listed as DTS/PacSWRyMuseum on your credit card statement.
Ticketless Travel: Your tickets will NOT be mailed to you. Please print your on-line receipt and redeem it for your tickets at the Campo Depot Will Call on the morning of your trip. An email reservation confirmation will also be sent to you.
Identification that matches your US Customs information will be required to pick up your tickets. Make sure that your Customs information is accurate.
