Steam to Tecate, Mexico

The next Tecate trip under steam will occur on November 2, 1996. A diesel locomotive will be on the point leading #2353 for the downhill leg to Tecate. The steam locomotive will run around the consist at Tecate, leaving the diesel on the west end and will pull the entire consist uphill to Campo for the 60-minute return leg. A 3 hour and 30 minute layover in Tecate will allow for tours of the Brewery and an opportunity to explore this quaint rural Mexican village.

Fares will be $35 ($30 for Museum members) on a reserved seat basis.

First class fares for observation cars on each end of the consist will be $100. This fare includes catered food and drink with a spectacular view of the steam locomotive. #2353 will be coupled directly to the observation platform end of the Robert Peary on the downhill leg, and will nestle it's tender next to the observation end of #1509 for the return uphill trip. This undoubtedly will be the best seat in the house!

Train and tours filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
