Note: The 11:00 train is sold out. Additionally, BBQ food tickets are also sold out. The 2:30 train has plenty of seats available. On Sunday, June 20, we have a special event planned to celebrate Father's Day at the Campo Railway Museum.
Bring out dear old Dad and treat him to a one-hour train ride and special BBQ lunch (prepared on-site) with the whole family. Drinks will be on sale in the giftshop. We will also feature live music with American trains songs performed by the duo Trails & Rails.
In addition, the Display Building will be open so the whole family can visit the steam locomotives and cabooses on display. This will be a unique and family fun day where the kids can run around and not be cooped-up in a restaurant. There's a swing set available for all.
There are two starting times, either the 11:00 A.M. train ride with the Museum tour and food after the train ride, or food first, then tour, then 2:30 P.M. train ride. Music and food will be available between the hours of 12:30 P.M. and 2:15 P.M.
Reservations must be made in advance to earn a $5 discount per ticket, and can be placed on-line here. The tickets cost only $25 for adults, $15 for kids 6-12, childern under 6 eat free with one paying adult per child, otherwise $5 each. Reservations will be taken until 72-hours before the event. After that time, space permitting, tickets will be available at the Campo depot for an additional $5 per person.
Directions to the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum at the Campo Depot are available on the web here. Allow time to enjoy the drive through the mountains of eastern San Diego County. While you are in the area, consider visiting the other attractions in the Campo valley. The Stone Store, operated by the Mountain Empire Historical Society, tells the story of Campo's Camp Lockett during WWII. For an easy all day adventure, drive out State Route 94 to Campo, visit the Valley, take in the Golden Acorn Casino and drive home via I-8. Allow extra time if you choose to travel State Route 94, a two-lane country road.
Our thanks go to to Trails & Rails and the Museum Volunteers who will be donating their time to make sure this a special event. Come on out and enjoy his day with us!
